What do we do?

Remove the Snow

All Gutter Systems will remove all the snow we can safely get to. Removing the snow helps prevent further ice damming and gets excess weight off the roof.

Notch the Ice Dams

In most cases, notching the ice dams will allow the excess water collected behind them to flow out. In some cases removal of the entire ice dam is needed.

Clear the Roof Vents

Removing the excess snow from the roof vents helps insure proper ventilation, keeping the attic cool and preventing ice dams.

Apply Snow Melt

All Gutter Systems uses a premium nitrogen fertilizer snow melt. It is fast acting and safe for your shingles. Snow Melt keeps the roof clean and the water flowing.

Remove Snow from Walkways

Upon request, we can clear the snow from your walkways to give you a clear path.

In West Michigan the combination of persistent cold and heavy snow accumulations can create serious stress on residential roofs. Prolonged cold keeps snow from melting, so deep accumulations build up — and even fresh snow can weigh a lot, while wet, packed snow and ice are far heavier and put much more load on your roof structure. If the snow load exceeds what your roof was designed to support, it can lead to sagging, structural damage or even collapse in extreme cases. In addition, freeze–thaw cycles often cause ice dams at the roof edges, where melting snow refreezes and traps water. That backed-up water can seep under shingles, causing leaks, water damage, rot, and interior ceiling stains if not addressed.
